Playing a private party Erica from Baby's Burgers

If you're an L.A. native, you may have heard of "Baby's Burgers".  It's a bright pink food truck that has an all female staff and some incredible hamburgers.  The brilliant woman behind it all is Erica Cohen.

She started her journey with food as a little girl living in New York and now is one of the two founders of the incredibly successful business that has tons of rave reviews from everyday Los Angelites to celebs like Gwyneth Paltrow, Kylie Jenner, Jimmy Fallon and tons more...

Many years ago, along with her dad, also a food connoisseur, they embarked on a quest to find the perfect hamburger.  Sampling the amazing flavors of the NYC burgers they pieced together the inspiration for what would later be the beginning of her uber successful business.

She found me online and booked me to play her birthday party.  Not only did she have a beautiful property up on the hills, her family was so kind and welcoming.  Her kids even helped me unload my gear!  After I was set up I played a laid back set of some Bob Marley, John Mayer, Black Keys and Ben Harper and some acoustic easy listening pop.  During my breaks I switched over to a custom playlist curated just for her and thankfully we have very similar tastes in music so it was easy to add a few extras - Fleetwood Mac, Jack Johnson, Train, Foo Fighters.....

I made a few new friends over the break, including her husband who was an LA firefighter for many years.  He was one of the brave men leading the charge to fight against one of the biggest fire's in the history of Southern California.

During one of my breaks I was able to walk over and order "The Good Wife" - a breakfast burger that was so massive you almost need to dislocate your jaw to take a bite.  All I can say is - you just have to try it.  It truly is leagues above any other burger you're likely to try.  Perfectly grilled, flavorful, juicy - very much comparable to the artful balance of a well written song.  After eating it, I felt fat and sassy, the way you should after eating a nice burger or some soups and breads and desserts.

It was such a good time and it's always a blessing to get to actually meet the people at my performances and hear the stories and lives and hear them talk with their friends about good times.  Thank you so much Erica for having me be a part of your birthday party, you have a great business, a beautiful family and I hope you had as much fun as I did!
